Mr. Darzy Norhalim

Darzy Norhalim joined the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (formerly known as Multimedia Development Corporation Sdn. Bhd.) in 2001, and currently is the Director of the Sharing Economy Ecosystem Division (SEED). In his current capacity, he has been instrumental in creating policy framework to promote and grow crowdsourcing; the sharing economy industry in Malaysia and fostering the ecosystem needed to prepare the country to benefit from the disruptive technology trend. He oversees the implementation of national-level initiative which facilitate participation by citizens in the ‘freelance, gig economy’, and adoption of the disruptive model of crowdsourcing and sharing economy by businesses. The initiative has delivered cumulative income of RM 330 mil to more than 100,000 B40 participants during the period of 2016 until 2018. Previously, he led the rollout of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) Initiative to all 13 States of Malaysia.  His expertise and experience covers the areas of government policy and strategy to develop ICT industry as a new growth sector for the State economy, and to increase the adoption of ICT by enterprises and citizens.  He was also specifically responsible in the formulation of incentives to fast-track development of Cyberjaya as Malaysia’s national ICT hub, during its formative years. He graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor of Science (Mechanical Engineering) in 1994.
